How it works
There is no perfect place to begin. One story is enough.
Told & Treasured is built around a single, gentle idea: you don’t have to capture a whole life at once. You sit down with someone you love, talk about one thing that matters, and keep it. Here is what that looks like, step by step.
Step 1: Choose someone you love
Begin with a single person: a parent, a grandparent, a sibling, a friend, or yourself. You are not committing to a whole life story. You are simply deciding whose voice you would like to keep.
Step 2: Pick one photograph or question
An old photograph, a place, a tradition, or one thoughtful question is enough to open a door. You don't need a plan or an outline, just one small thing worth talking about today.
Step 3: Record a natural conversation
Sit together and let the conversation unfold while Told & Treasured quietly captures it. There are no forms to fill in and no time to fill. Pauses are part of the story.
Step 4: Preserve the original voice
The recording is kept exactly as it was spoken, with the laughter, the accent, the way they pause before a hard memory. The original is the source of truth and is never overwritten or replaced.
Step 5: Add context and photographs
When you're ready, give the story a title and add a date, a place, the people in it, and photographs. There's no rush; you can return and add more whenever a detail comes back to you.
Step 6: Return to the family archive
Each story gathers into a calm, private family archive you can revisit for years. Invite the relatives you trust to listen and contribute, and watch a quiet collection take shape over time.
Sit down with someone you love.
One story is enough.
